All students (Y9-12) are encouraged to attend our options evening so that they receive the very best support and guidance to help them make these all important subject choices for 2026.
The decisions that students make around their academic courses for 2026 will be some of the most important decisions that they make this year. It is important that these decisions are informed, supported by parents and the college to ensure that they can work towards their future career aspirations.
There will be a presentation by Mr Tester at 6pm in the Marcellin Centre on option choices (recommended for Y9/10 students) - if you've been to this presentation in previous years you need not attend if you can remember all the information! Teaching staff are available to discuss coursing in 2026 and answer questions from 6-7:30pm
The timings of the evening are fairly fluid to allow you to create your own programme.
Coinciding with our Options Evening is our SJC Careers Evening. Beginning at 4:30pm, we have a number of training providers joining us in our school Library, with representatives from each there to help answer questions and offer information to help our students with their future career and training planning, including useful school subjects to take. The groups attending include: The University of Waikato, Wintec, Vision College, Lincoln University, BCITO, the NZ Defence Force, PIHMS, Fulton Hogan, NZMA, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, NZ Corrections, and NZSE. The evening will run until 7pm (please note: there will be a short refreshment break for provider representatives at around 6pm, when we will close the Library).
